Researcher Mr. Fengchen Liang, Vice Chairman of Shandong Province Seeds Group Co., Ltd. Conducts Specialized Field Survey of Medium-Day Early-Maturing Onions in Henan
From April 27 to 29, 2026, Researcher Mr. Fengchen Liang, Vice Chairman of Shandong Province Seeds Group Co., Ltd. led a team to Xinye County, Henan Province, to conduct a specialized field survey of medium-day early-maturing onions. The objective of this survey was to assess the field performance of medium-day early-maturing onion varieties, scientifically evaluate the promotional value of new varieties, and provide support for their commercial promotion.
During the survey, Researcher Mr. Fengchen Liang and his team visited multiple planting plots, employing a combination of on-site observation, data collection, and farmer interviews to systematically assess the growth of medium-day early-maturing onion varieties. Observed indicators included plant vigor, bulb size and uniformity, maturity period, disease resistance, and stress tolerance.

In the mature variety demonstration plots, the medium-day early-maturing yellow-skinned onion varieties "Tianwangxing" (Uranus) and "Jinyang" continued to demonstrate stable performance with uniform plant growth, uniform bulb size, and appropriate maturity. They showed good adaptability under the fluctuating temperature conditions of this spring. Growers generally reported that these two varieties are easy to manage with controllable risk, making them ideal choices for medium-day early-maturing onions.

In the new variety screening plots, the red onion variety coded "125" performed exceptionally well. This variety exhibits a distinct early-maturing advantage, rapid bulb expansion, bright and attractive bulb appearance, and a high marketable yield rate, outperforming existing mainstream varieties in both yield potential and external quality. Despite the significant temperature fluctuations this spring, the variety showed no obvious bolting or fruit cracking, positioning it as a potentially dominant variety in the medium-day early-maturing onion market and providing a scientific basis for the company's future product planning.

The survey yielded solid results, with the stability of mature varieties and the breakthrough potential of new varieties forming a good complement. This further validated the scientific rigor and foresight of our company's medium-day early-maturing onion variety system, laying a solid foundation for expanding demonstration and promotion in Henan and similar ecological regions. In the future, the company will continue to increase R&D investment, accelerate the screening of high-quality varieties adapted to different ecological zones, and simultaneously enhance technical promotion and after-sales service to effectively help growers reduce costs and increase efficiency.
Mr. Jian Liu, Deputy Regional Sales Manager for Central China and Deputy Manager of the Melon Crop Promotion Department; Mr. Mingxing Guo, Deputy Regional Sales Manager for North China and Deputy Manager of the Product Development Department, and Mr. Tao Wei, Marketing Specialist from the Marketing Department, accompanied the survey.
